Being in the kitchen has always felt like home. It’s where memories are made. I have fond memories of my childhood, making pies and cookies with my Grand-Maman and my Mom, telling stories and hearing laughter throughout the house.
My mom being one of 17 children (no that’s not a typo), there were 17 of them. Yup 17 awesome, super rowdy kids that I get to call my aunts and uncles. Let’s just say they stayed true to French Canadian roots and there are a LOT of us. Having such a large extended family comes with many perks, like super fun parties. Growing up, there were always exciting events to attend with an abundance of super yummy French Canadian baking. Anyway, that’s a story for another blog, I could go on forever.
While studying Interior Design at Humber College, I headed to my very small apartment kitchen to relieve stress and procrastinate on my homework. I got obsessed with decorating cakes, and let’s just say my friends had no problem putting on the freshman fifteen.
My love for baseball and baking collided and Batter Up Bakery was born.
After years of side hustling the cake biz, I jumped in with both feet and launched Batter Up Bakery as my full time gig. May 2018 was a scary, yet very exciting time for Batter Up Bakery as I moved from the farm team to the majors. Since then, I have continued to expand my baking knowledge and my products to include cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and so much more.
Over that last few years, I have expanded our offerings to include workshops, education sessions and I was able to add new teammates to our growing roster. With so much excitement we continue to look at the future and strive to bring Ottawa residents the best in custom desserts.
